Roger Manceaux: A Legacy of Elegance from Montagne de Reims

in the world of Champagne, RM stands for Récoltant Manipulant — the designation for grower-producers who cultivate their own vineyards and vinify their own wines, ensuring authenticity and a direct link between terroir and glass.
For Champagne Roger Manceaux, those same two letters hold an even deeper resonance. They are also the initials of its founder, Roger Manceaux. And as if destiny itself was shaping the story, the family home and winery are in Rilly-la-Montagne — another RM that roots the house not only in family but also in place.
From this corner of the Montagne de Reims, Patrick Manceaux continues a legacy that began nearly a century ago, crafting champagnes that embody precision, tradition, and soul.
The Identity of Roger Manceaux
“The identity of Champagne Roger Manceaux, a terroir champagne from the Montagne de Reims spread across five Grand Cru and Premier Cru villages, represents the crossroads of the three main grape varieties — Pinot Noir, Meunier, and Chardonnay. Without external supplies, we vinify a wide range of Roger Manceaux champagnes, including three single-varietal wines and various non-vintage and vintage blends.”
This mosaic of terroirs and grapes gives the house its unique ability to balance tradition with versatility, crafting champagnes that truly speak of place.

A Terroir Mosaic
From the chalky slopes of Rilly-la-Montagne to the power of Mailly’s Grand Cru Pinot Noir, each village brings something essential.
“Mailly Champagne Grand Cru gives vinosity, red fruit flavors, and after aging, nutty complexity. Taissy Premier Cru Chardonnay offers finesse and minerality, sometimes with exotic notes. Villers Allerand and Trois Puits bring the roundness of Meunier, while Rilly-la-Montagne is a crossroads of the three grape varieties, each thriving in different soils.”
By vinifying these plots separately, Patrick preserves their identity, creating blends that reflect Champagne’s diversity at its finest.

Sustainability at the Core
“Since 2015, we have been committed to HVE (High Environmental Value) and VDC (Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne). For us, it is about protecting the land we cultivate and ensuring we pass on clean vineyards to future generations. Our goal is zero herbicides by 2026, and every decision is made with respect for nature and the people working in the vines.”
Signature Cuvées
When asked which cuvées best represent the house, Patrick highlights two:
“The Cuvée de Réserve Brut and Nature represent the five villages of our house — champagnes of pleasure and complexity to appeal to many. The Grande Réserve Brut is our signature. It blends 50% Pinot Noir from Mailly Grand Cru with 50% Chardonnay from Taissy Premier Cru, aged for four years. It is elegant, mineral, fruity, and long on the palate — truly the identity of Roger Manceaux.”
Moments of Celebration
Champagne may always be associated with celebration, but for Patrick, it is also about gastronomy and everyday joy.
“In 2010, inspired by my wife Florence — an epicurean with a passion for gastronomy — we began to focus on food and wine pairings. We created Nature and Extra-Brut cuvées to pair with fine dishes, working with sommeliers and chefs. For me, every bottle is a moment to share, not just a toast.”
A Family Legacy
The story of Roger Manceaux is written by generations:
“My great-grandfather Edmond created his own brand in the 1920s. My grandfather René, passionate about winemaking and cooperage, died young but left behind his craftsmanship. My father Roger, at only 23, created Champagne Roger Manceaux with my mother and grandmother.
In 1995, I followed in their footsteps. Today, I continue their work, introducing oak barrels once again, creating new cuvées, and preparing for the release of Coteaux Champenois still wines in 2026.”
Beyond Taste — An Experience
Ultimately, Patrick hopes people experience more than just flavor:
“What I want people to take away from their first glass of Roger Manceaux is pleasure — substance on the palate, fruit balanced by freshness, and above all, a fond memory. Champagne should always be about sharing moments with family, friends, and colleagues.”
✨ At Rouge & Co. London, we are honored to present Champagne Roger Manceaux in the UK — a house where terroir, craftsmanship, and soul come together in every glass.
