This is a deliberately vinous, cellar-aged rosé from very old Douro vines, not a pale seasonal afterthought.

A seven-generation family estate at Ervedosa do Douro. Furada restored its traditional granite and schist lagares for foot-trodden vinification, while the Pata D'Urso wines draw on very old mixed vineyards and long, patient cellar ageing.

In the glass
Light ruby with strawberry, small red fruits, floral notes and gentle oak; fresh, soft and balanced, with a long, fruit-led finish.

How it is made
Hand harvested; short maceration in granite lagar and 24-hour cool pre-fermentation maceration; stainless-steel fermentation, partial ageing for 18 months in 225-litre French oak and a further nine months in stainless steel.

Roast salmon, charcuterie, duck, grilled tuna or richer seafood dishes.
